Fig 1: T2W Image shows intermediate to mild hypointense heterogeneous signal intensity on both sides. On DWI/ADC, there is significant restricted diffusion. On DCE (dynamic contrast enhancement), there is more sheet-like enhancement with some homogeneity.
Prostatitis is either a bacterial infection or inflammation
It has a bi-modal peak - younger and older man
Types -
1. Bacterial Prostatitis (5 to 10 % prostatitis is due to bacteria)
a. Acute Bacterial Prostatitis(ABP)
b. Chronic Bacterial Prostatitis (CBP)
Causative agent: Enterobacteriaceae family
E.Coli in 50 to 90 %.
Etiology: Ascending urethritis
Bladder outlet obstruction
Instrumentation
2. Chronic Prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome
3. Asymptomatic inflammatory prostatitis
Clinical Presentation:
Acute: Fever, LUTS, and tenderness
Chronic: Milder symptoms
