FOUR COMMANDMENTS IN A CT SCAN REPORT OF LIVER CIRRHOSIS

FOUR ESSENTIAL FINDINGS NEED TO BE INFORMED IN A CT SCAN REPORT OF LIVER CIRRHOSIS

A detailed report should be given in liver cirrhosis and can be time intensive.

In this blog we will only discuss the  four  key findings that a referring physician is looking for, which help decide the management.

1. Identify hypervascular lesions & characterize - HCC

2. Vascular thrombosis - Tumor infiltration or bland

3. Presence of ascites

The innocuous looking finding is actually sinister. It indicated decompensation or presence of other complication like vascular thrombosis or HCC. Sometimes ascites can become infected and is called as SBP (spontaneous bacterial peritonitis)

4. Information on portal hypertension (collateral's /  shunts like spleno-renal shunt / splenomegaly).
